NEW VESSELS 4 MANLY FAST FERRY

Two 24 metre and two 33 metre fast catamarans are scheduled to join the Manly Fast Ferry fleet by the New Year. Operating on a frequent daily service, the vessels will carry commuters in peak hours and a mix of locals and tourists during off peak times. The vessels will provide a superior level of comfort and performance making them the perfect platform to showcase Sydneys spectacular harbour and ocean views.

The 24 metre catamarans (Incat hulls 78 &79) will have capacity for 260 passengers plus crew, indoor and outdoor seating on both the main passenger and upper deck. The larger 33 metre catamarans (Incat 80 & 81) will carry 375 passengers, again with a mix of undercover and outdoor seating.

The new vessels designed by Sydney based Navel Architects One2Three incorporate a number of new features including bike racks, surfboard racks, USB ports and improvements to wheelchair accessibility. Wider corridors and additional vessel loading points will speed up passenger loading times by an estimated 50%.

Incat Chairman Robert Clifford said “The order for four new ferries for Manly Fast Ferries in Sydney is good news for over 300 workers at the Hobart shipyard, and it is expected this number will increase over the next few months.” Manly Fast Ferry owner, Richard Ford is proud of the fact that this project is 100% home grown with all vessel production including design, engineering and manufacture being completed in Australia by Australian owned companies.

Richard Ford considers Manly Fast Ferries investment into the development of new high speed, high capacity, low wash purpose built vessels necessary to further improve transport amenity to the Manly community.
